Vitamin B blood test

Hello Everyone!!! Tomorrow I will actually be 18 weeks post op. These weeks are going fast.

I wanted to update everyone early this week because it has been an interesting week. Wednesday morning I went to the doctor's office to get a blood test to have them check my vitamin B levels.

Around Labor Day, I started to experience some numbness in various parts through out my body. Mainly after I had been sitting at work and in the car for long periods of time. My arms and legs and parts of my face started to feel numb. Almost like it was falling asleep. I ignored it for a few days. Then it started to get worse. Parts of my back started to go numb just by standing, then my feet would go numb. It was a weird feeling and finally Monday morning I emailed the nurse at the doctor's office and she gave me wonderful suggestions to see what could relieve the numbness. She also suggested that I get my Vitamin B checked.

This coming Monday I should have the test results telling me if I am deficient in Vitamin B. I will keep you all posted. I am not worried and this shouldn't be a discouragement to anyone thinking about having surgery. I just want to make sure that you know exactly what I am going through. I am still glad I had this surgery and would do it all over again if I had too!

Will update soon! Have a great weekend!!!

Clothes

Clothes are a big part of this surgery. I knew that clothes were going to be a juggling act with this surgery, but clothes also help you track your progress with the surgery.

There are certain clothes that i wasn't able to wear before surgery and now those clothes fit perfectly. In fact, some of the clothes are now even too big for me to wear.

I am very close to fitting into an XL shirt. The last time that I fitted into an XL shirt was when i was a freshman in high school which was 12 years ago (1994).

These past couple weeks have been a little chilly here in Minnesota and I noticed that I am getting colder a lot faster. In fact, I never got cold when i was 350 pounds. I notice that i am wearing warmer clothing and I can still be comfortable.

I know there will come a time when all the clothes that I own will be too big for me, that is when i will be buying new clothes. Until then!!!!!

Long time no post/Update

Hey everyone! It has been quite a while since I have updated. With all this extra energy that I have, I really don't spend much time at my computer.

Last week friday I was 16 weeks post op. I left the hospital at 375 and I currently weigh 250. I am down 125 pounds. I need to get to 190 which is the goal that Dr Shapiro gave me. So i have 60 more pounds to lose to get to that point. To be honest, I really want to get down to 170. The dr says that is possible but according to statistics I will get to 190.

I have been stuck at 250 for quite a while now. It has been a little over 3 weeks since I have lost any weight. This is normal. It makes me worry though because I had lost so much weight so fast, it was kind of depressing to see it stop and for this long. I probably will start dropping weight again in about a week. Normal plateau's last this long on occasions.

Food is going well. I did make some chili over the weekend and have been eating some of that. I still can't eat much, but i do notice that I am eating a little more than i was able to in the beginning. Vitamins and supplements are going much better than before. I am swallowing them without any problems now. I think that at my 3 month check up when I was able to swallow them whole, there was a fear in me with swallowing such a large pill. Having the stomach virus didn't help either. Now that is all in the past. No problems with that at all.

Next week tuesday on the 19th of September I will be taking updated pictures. They might seem different because I will be taking the pictures with a new camera. You will still see the progress though.

Support Group meeting is this Wednesday night. I will be attending. It is nice to hear what other people go through and compare to what you are going through.

I do not need to see the dr now for two months. At that time I will be 6 months post-op. I will be getting some blood work done to see how I am doing. November 7th is the day.

I will be updating this friday when I will be 17 weeks post op. 17 weeks is a long time!! I am a completely different person. I am finding myself being more social and outgoing. I enjoy doing things now, going places, traveling, etc... You name it!! I have new hobbies now, which keep me going and keep me active. I can still say after 17 short weeks, I am SOOOOOO glad that I had this surgery.
